Happy Belated Easter

I was on-call for Easter weekend, which would make me grumpy since I worked the last holiday, except that working lots of weekends in April = going to lots of trials in May. Dad came to visit me and we had a very nice time and got lots done. Saturday was hideous, I worked from 8am-12:30am with only a half hour break at 9pm for dinner. Calls included a choked horse, down cow, calf with sloughed hoof, colic mare, and parvo puppy to name a few. Oy. Luckily Dad was here to entertain the dogs; the big girls got to go on a very nice hike and Livy got to play in the yard. Sunday we had time to sit down for a turkey dinner between caring for the sickies in the intensive care unit. (No, we don't have an intensive care unit per se, just some patients requiring intensive care). Livy got to go for a big girl hike all by herself, while the others burned off a little energy playing frisbee.

"I may look like a big girl..."

"But I'm still a crazy puppy!"

Dad got to meet Jethro, my one and only lamb. I'd sent 2 ewes who have become absolutely rotten up to the sales at New Holland. Funny how I've moved 3 states away and the 430 mile trailer ride back home still makes up for prices around here. The girls sold very well and I'm quite pleased. Anyhow, I'm down to a momma ewe and Jethro, an open ewe, a wether yearling, and a ewe yearling. Instead of waiting for "the real" shearer to come in May, I sheared them myself. Ohhh home-hair-cut-disaster! At least no bowls were used, and they're all much cooler now, which was really all I was going for.

We got to Christine's and Rae, Gabe, and even Ella worked. This was Ella's first 5 minutes out since being laid up last November. We were all very pleasantly surprised! She nearly took up right where she left off last fall, which is amazing considering how excited she was to get a turn! Keeping her head is not one of Ella's strengths :P I'll be watching her like a hawk these next couple days to be sure she doesn't become sore.

PS I can't figure out the stupid formatting problems that I have in Blogger. I want to center the captions and only the captions, and to have appropriate spaces in between paragraphs. No matter what it looks like in the "compose" window, when it comes time to "preview" or "view post," everything's all boogered up. Have yet to get this straightened out. I hate to center the whole entry, but it's the best I can do right now. How frustrating.

  1. I use the new editor on Blogger and the tool bar has an icon with drop box for alignment. Just toggle it between paragraphs and picture captions. The help pages including search are easy to use as well.
